The reception children enjoyed a virtual visit from Reverend Nick. He talked to us about The Easter Story and how in church Christians celebrate Easter. During 'Messy church' on the last day of term, the children made their own flower crosses using scrunch up tissue paper and lolly sticks and also enjoyed eating hot cross buns.
As a school, we focused on the text 'Journey' by Aaaron Becker. We enjoyed making lots of predictions and sharing our ideas when looking at the illustrations in this wordless book. We hope you like our class air balloons inspired by an imagine in the text. We explored using different printing materials to paint on the fabric.
The reception children learnt about Diwali, 'the festival of light' and found out how Diwali is celebrated all around the world. The children made their own Diwali diya (candle holders) using clay and decorated them with patterns using clay tools and also painted them. On Friday we lit a candle in each diya and listened to Miss Jones read the story of Rama and Sita. Mint and Bay class also used coloured rice to create our own class Rangoli patterns.
