English
Term 3
Our English learning this term has been focused around the traditional tale Little Red Riding Hood. We have listened to and discussed the story, including exploring features of traditional tales, characters and settings. In particular, the children have loved listening to alternative versions of some well-known traditional tales such as The Three Little Pigs, The Enormous Turnip, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and many more.
We learnt the Little Red Riding Hood story off-by heart using Talk for Writing, wrote an imitation of the story and then wrote our own innovated story, changing a few parts. The purpose of our writing has been entertaining the reader.
Term 2- Poetry
We wrote our own senses poem inspired by Bonfire Night.
After writing our poems, we chose our favourite line to share and put together to build a class poem. During the morning, we practised performing these using our oracy skills. We used gestures and actions, as well as changing our voice as a way to make our performance exciting to the listener. In the afternoon, we performed our class poem to Year Two and they gave us some feedback on our oracy skills.
Term 1- National Poetry Day
We learnt the rhyme 'One, Two Buckle My Shoe' off by heart. Using our oracy skills, we performed a 'lively performance' using gestures and actions. Reception children enjoyed watching our performance.
