School Meals

Children may bring either a sandwich box from home or have a school meal.

Children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 are entitled to a Universal free school meal. No payment needs to be made. Your child simply needs to tell the teacher each day if they require a meal.

Children in Y3 - Y6 may be entitled to a free school meal. It is important that if you think you are eligible for free school meals, you register as soon as your child starts school in Reception. Please ask in the school office if you are unsure about this.  More information is below and in the attachment.

School Meals for Y3 - Y6 are £2.60. We ask parents to pay weekly, monthly or termly in advance. Payment is made via ParentPay and must be made by 9.00am on a Monday morning for the following week.

There is no need to book meals for specific days via parentpay, each child just lets the teacher know during registration if they are school dinners or have brought in a packed lunch.

Packed lunches should be brought into school with your child each morning and stored in the class room.

Packed lunches – Please can we remind everyone that sweets, chocolate or any item that contains nuts should not be included. Some ideas:

Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta.

Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans.

A    Dairy item, like cheese or yogurt.

Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit.

Parents do not need to reapply for free school meals in the school holidays. If they do reapply, it is possible that they may find their new application is unsuccessful.  A notice has been put on the free school meals checker to let people know not to reapply if their child is already entitled. If parents have queries such as changing schools or addresses, please ask them to email the free school meals email address: fsm@n-somerset.gov.uk
